Flying high in the sky and fighting against all odds of nature, the movie “The Aeronauts” is a spectacular piece of art that has captured the attention of millions around the world.
Gary Vaynerchuk’s style of writing is perfect for reviewing this movie as he always manages to capture the essence of what he is talking about. “The Aeronauts” is a movie that has left its viewers in absolute awe through its thrilling storyline, incredible performances, and stunning visuals.
Directed by Tom Harper, the movie takes place in 1862 when a meteorologist named James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) teams up with a widow, Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones), to pilot a gas balloon high into the sky to study weather patterns. The journey becomes more perilous than expected as they encounter challenges which include frostbite, hypoxia and much more.
The plot is based on real-life events – Glaisher indeed did go on record-breaking flights with his scientific instruments to gather data for future weather prediction. However, Amelia Wren’s character seems to be entirely fictional since no one has been documented as having flown with him at that time.
The two lead actors have given their best performances in their respective roles. Eddie Redmayne portrays the character of an ambitious scientist who struggles against societal norms while Felicity Jones plays the role of a daredevil pilot who has been scarred by her past experiences but still manages to push forward in life.
However, there are some critics who claim that it might have been better if there were more characters involved in the story instead of just two protagonists. Nonetheless, this does not take away from the fact that both Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones have given commendable performances throughout the movie.
The cinematography is breathtakingly beautiful as you get lost gazing at expansive views from above; mountains covered by snow look like crystalized candy while vast riverbeds resemble soft, flowing silk.
Moreover, the movie received a lot of appreciation for its excellent visual effects. The scenes with the gas balloon were spectacular and created the illusion that you were actually floating above clouds at 30,000 feet. The special effects team made it seem realistic by capturing every detail – from the sound of wind to the way the camera shook as if it was in a real balloon.
However, some people believe that there could have been a better balance between visuals and story rather than just relying on scenic beauty to keep viewers engaged.
One of my favorite scenes in “The Aeronauts” is when we see Glaisher’s internal struggle with his own fears of heights while battling against his desire to push scientific boundaries. He shows us how much he has given up for his passion and how much he is willing to sacrifice to make a difference in society.
The film also gives an insight into Victorian England, which is an era we don’t get to see often on the big screen. It was fascinating to see how people lived their lives during that time period and how scientific discoveries were shaping their world.
The music score by Steven Price is equally stunning as it adds an extra layer of depth and emotion to every scene. The soundtrack enhances our experience in this visually pleasing journey that takes place high above ground level.
Overall, “The Aeronauts” is an incredible piece of art that takes us on an adventurous journey into the world above us. It’s packed with thrill, suspense, and emotions that are sure to keep you at the edge of your seat throughout. If you haven’t seen it yet, I would strongly recommend taking some time out for this enthralling movie.
