As I sat in the theater watching the movie “Wildling,” a thrill ran through me. The storyline was so captivating that my heart felt like it was beating outside of my chest. The sheer imagination and creativity used in putting this film together left me spellbound. It’s a mishmash of horror, drama, and action, all rolled into one. It’s amazing how everything came together.
The plot of the movie is centered around a young girl named Anna who has been locked up in an attic by her father for years. She is warned by her father to stay away from the Wildlings; strange beings that roam the woods surrounding their house. It’s all she knows until one day she is rescued by Sheriff Ellen Cooper, opening up a new world to her.
The film revolves around Anna’s journey as she discovers more about herself and learns to deal with the world outside her father’s attic. A journey of self-discovery, struggles and triumphs.
Bel Powley played Anna flawlessly. She perfectly captured the emotions of a girl who has never known anything other than isolation and fear. Liv Tyler delivered an excellent performance as Sheriff Ellen Cooper, portraying strength while also conveying empathy for Anna.
The history behind Anna’s situation is unravelled throughout the movie which gives it depth and intrigue. The Wildlings are mysterious at first but soon become an integral part of the story as we learn what they truly are.
Director Fritz Böhm did an excellent job in bringing this cinematic masterpiece to life on screen with his impeccable attention to detail evident throughout every scene. He carefully crafted every character perfectly making them relatable and unique.
The cinematography was breathtaking; its perfect blend with the music score made each scene seem like poetry in motion. It swayed and soared with every twist and turn creating stunning flow that draws you in until you forget where you are.
